  2. Following the 1947 partition of India, a large number of Hindu population migrated from Sindh to places of safety and survival. Stateless and landless the Hindu Sindhis are today living in all states of India and almost all countries of the world - scattered as individuals, couples, small families or small regional communities. Wherever they went, they mingled with the local population and learnt their traditions and language. They have more than survived but at the heavy price of losing on their own traditions, relationship, cultural values and most importantly their language which has remained as the only binding force of the Community.

Sindhi language is gradually getting replaced by local languages and is at the danger of becoming extinct. Revered Dada J P Vaswani of Holy Mission of Sadhu Vaswani, Pune says “language is the soul of the Community”. Please click here to hear his soul touching talk. Indeed language lost means Community lost. How truthfully Dada says, “at least at home we must speak Sindhi” to keep the language going. The snag comes when our children answer back in English or other language. That is because they never learned Sindhi in schools and are not confident of the pronunciations or meanings; more so because they are used to speaking in the language/s they are taught and talk in their schools.

We Sindhis have almost zero or minimal facilities to teach/learn Sindhi in schools. In India the choice can be Devnagiri Script to teach Sindhi but that is not viable for the Globally scattered Sindhis. The only viable Script for the Globally scattered Sindhis is Roman which we all know. With that in view ONE SINGLE STANDARDIZED ROMAN SINDHI SCRIPT VERSION was developed by a dedicated team, which was placed before and overwhelmingly approved by a large gathering of Worldwide Sindhi delegates at the Los Angeles International Sindhi Sammelan in July 2009. The said version was further debated upon, improved, approved, adopted and recommended for Global Sindhi use by a team of expert and dedicated Sindhi Professors and Scholars from India, in conjunction with officials of Sindhology Adipur, the Alliance, Romanized Sindhi team and some seniors of the Community

We present the said Romanized Script herein in Audio, Video and text format Lessons for teaching/learning online Reading, Writing and Speaking basic Sindhi without any fees, for the good of the Globally scattered Sindhi Community, and are hoping that maximum number of them will benefit and make use of it. Comments for any further improvements may be considered at the next conferences organized by the Alliance. This program has been possible with the dedicated selfless services of the volunteers and finance supporters; we invite you for same for the betterment of the program for all future.

A note of thanks: We are grateful to all those who attended Ahmadabad Summit Conference 29-30 March 2010 and helped make this happen.
